Nancy’s Celebration of Life

On March 18, 2023 our community came together from far and wide, in person and by Zoom to remember and pay tribute to out beloved Nancy. Below are videos and photos from the event. The Zoom recording does not have great sound, but it captures the essence. The other videos have better sound.

If you attended the event and have photos or videos the family would love to see them. Please email Jessica at vanarsdalejessica@gmail.com

Nancy’s family is grateful for everyone who attended and helped to make this celebration a beautiful and powerful experience.

Obituary

Nancy modeled authentic compassion, kindness, and caring every day.

Always willing to help someone in need, no matter the time of day or night.

Her intellect, wisdom, and friendship were a treasure to us all.

May memories of her joyous laughter spark kindness in all of us.

Thank you, Nancy, for being a shining light.

Nancy,

You are forever in our hearts.

Thank you for blessing us

with your presence.

We will meet again.

  1. What a wonderful tribute to a loving, compassionate woman and dear friend to all including my sister, Gidalia Rothman. We know you are in a better place where there is peace and love.

    1. Nancy loved her life and every person and pinecone in it! Moments like pulling into the driveway and having the firetruck immediately park behind plus the bearhug of the firefighter in full regalia. Or Nancy running off to bring long sleeved shirts outside to our shared dinner im which we were now less consumed by mosquitos because of the long-sleeved shirts pilled on backwards while we squished, slapped and laughed?!

Standing with Yokosan in front of the road grader that had to turn around and go away.

Thinking of Nancy (called Nancy Buddah by Yokosan) everpresent in her wonderful life!

      2. Gracious Pepe por to palabras bonita. Para otro personas here is the english translation.
I met my dear Nancy in San Miguel de Allende. When she found out I needed special glasses. She surprised me by sending them to me from the US to San Miguel a few days after her return. Glasses that I still wear. How not to be moved by such a beautiful altruistic act? When I found out she was sick I wanted to run to hug her. Listen again to her adventures on horseback. Reciprocate that generosity and wisdom that characterized her so much. I know from a good source that she was fortunate to have a wonderful daughter who took care of her in very difficult circumstances. Through the voice of many of us who knew her, we say: Thank you Nancy, you live and will live forever inside us. Now it’s your turn to rest. See you soon. Thank you for showing us that a more generous world is possible. And thanks to your daughter for taking care of her. 🙂

  6. Thanks so much Jessica-

I will miss Aunt Nancy dearly, and the world has been a little less complete since she left us. The times spent at the Usal Rd house were the best!!! Mom, Dad, me and my brother met all you guys there in 84, and all the other times were just gravy spending that time w her, learning about all of our family’s deep roots. My Ireland excursion this past October w Mom wouldn’t have happened but for Nancy’s tireless research.

RIP Nancy, topnotch, gonna miss you
    Love,
    Pat

  7. Very sorry and shocked to hear of Nancy’s untimely and sad passing. I was her Irish cousin originally from Dromalty, Cappamore Co. Limerick Ireland. I lived in the thatched house in Dromalty from where Nancy’s ancestor Catherine Ryan Droichead originatfromed from until I was 7 years old and we relocated to Kilteely, Co. Limerick in 1960. I had the pleasure of meeting Nancy when she came to see me and my late brothet Tom at my house in Hospital, Co Limerick. If only I had known that her earthly life and that of my brother Tom was going to be so short. Tom passed away from Cancer on the 4th Srptember, 2022. He was 67 years of age.
